Natty or natural dreadlocks
One meets again and again Dreadocks wearers/inside with “natural Dreadlocks”. Natural means not doing anything to his dreads. Tearing the dreadlocks apart occasionally so they don’t grow together at the base is the only maintenance that is tolerated. This goes hand in hand with a certain attitude towards his dreadlocks.
What are natty or natural dreadlocks?
Natural dreadlocks are all different. They have curves and bumps with lots of loose hair sticking out. This can sometimes be a little reminiscent of a bird’s nest. Conscientious people like it just the same and that should be respected.
The philosophy behind it
Natural stands for the naturalness of dreadlocks. Accordingly, should not be helped with chemistry or an iron “Crochet”. In doing so, the growth can’t really be controlled and it takes longer than with a crochet hook to get properly matted dreadlocks.
Personal opinion
I’ve also been involved in discussions about how it’s not good that I’m making dreadlocks for others. These think that dreadlocks would have to arise on their own. Personally, I think everyone should know for themselves what their dreadlocks care looks like. The imposition of a worldview and dreadlocks techniques, I feel inappropriate.
Be tolerant and open to other views. Beauty is and remains a personal opinion.
