Will my hair shorten if I do dreadlocks?

New dreadlocks are shorter!

Normal hair grows, if it is not very curly, especially in length. But when you make dreadlocks, a certain length of hair goes for the volume, the third dimension. When you redo dreadlocks, you lose about 1/3 of the length! There’s nothing you can do about it, that’s just the way it is, unless of course you have a lot of curls. Then the dreadlocks may be even longer than the peg curls.

You lose 1/3 to 1/2 in length.

We always have customers like this loss of length of their hair regret. But in the end, when you make dreadlocks, you no longer have your “normal” hair, but dreadlocks. So, you shouldn’t compare the length of your dreadlocks to the length of your old hair. Likewise, it does no good to let the hair grow extra just so that the loss of length is not so great. 1/3 remains 1/3!
